About MsFinancialLiteracy.com

MsFinancialLiteracy.com publishes plain-language guides on saving, investing and planning for financial independence, written for women in the United States and for the couples and families they plan with.

What we cover

  • Foundations: budgeting, savings rate, emergency funds and the order in which to tackle goals.
  • Financial independence and early retirement: how much is enough, how withdrawals work, and what to do about health coverage before Medicare.
  • Investing for long horizons: account types, contribution limits and the tax rules that decide where the next dollar goes.
  • Money in relationships and families: merging finances, spousal accounts and teaching kids about money.

We do not pick stocks, trade crypto, rank financial products or give individual advice.

How guides are made

Each guide starts from the question a reader brings to the page and answers it in the first few sentences. Every figure that describes the world (a contribution limit, a tax threshold, a statistic) links to a primary source such as the IRS, the Social Security Administration, HealthCare.gov or the original research paper, with the date the figure applies to. Annual limits are rechecked every January. The full process is on the editorial policy page.

Guides are signed by the editorial team. When a guide has been reviewed by a credentialed professional, the reviewer's name appears on the page with their consent. We do not publish under invented names.

New ownership

This domain hosted a different, personal blog between 2016 and 2020. That blog stopped publishing, its hosting lapsed, and the domain was later re-registered. The site has been under new ownership since 2026 and is not affiliated with the earlier blog or its author. None of the earlier posts or images are republished here. Older links to this address lead to the closest current guide on the same subject.

How the site is funded

The site carries no advertising or affiliate links today. If that changes, every page with a paid link will say so next to the link, and the arrangement will be listed on the disclaimer and disclosures page.
